The mission of the Orwigsburg Historical Society is to promote, through the establishment and maintenance of a repository, museum, and allied
projects, a program that will foster understanding and appreciation by the community of its history, art, culture, and natural environment.

Located at 109 East Mifflin St. in Orwigsburg, PA, the society features a collection of memorabilia, artifacts, and a genealogical library.

General Information

In addition to restoring the current headquarters, formerly the Friendship Hose Co. No. 1 fire station, the society is restoring and offers tours of the "Old Jail." Built in 1891 the "Old Jail," also known as the "Lock-Up," is located directly behind the society and provides visitors with a unique view of Orwigsburg's history.

The society offers a selection of books and commemorative gifts related to Orwigsburg and Schuylkill County. Photo reprints are also available, both framed and unframed. Limited edition art prints of the original Schuylkill County Courthouse and the Orwigsburg Veterans Memorial Building are available in very limited quantities.
